The Mission The mission of the Benjamin E. Mays Academy of Science and Mathematics is to promote the pursuit of scientific ideas by providing a challenging, comprehensive curriculum of traditional and contemporary science and mathematics that will allow students to contribute to the educational, cultural, economic, and social advancement of our society.

The Mission It is the mission of the Career Technology Department to provide meaningful instruction and skills training that will enable learners to obtain and maintain employment in an effort to become productive and responsible citizens.
Broadcast and Video Production This program is designed to provide students with knowledge, skills, and hands-on experiences in the study of mass communication. Development of media includes project management, practice and operation of equipment, script development, editing, and studio work.
Business Information technology This program provides opportunities for students to develop interest, skills and knowledge in select aspects of business and office occupations. i.e. Computer applications, banking / finance, and web page design.
Cooperative Business Education This program is designed to provide cooperative work training program for seniors who are preparing for full-time employment in office occupations. The knowledge, skills and techniques learned separately in business class are brought together and applied to an actual office job.
Drafting / Design Technology The Architectural Drafting Program provides a professional studio environment that allows students to create projects that are both architectural and engineering in nature. During grades 10-12, students will be exposed to computer-aided drafting and design as well as traditional drafting and design, model making, and presentation.
Graphic Arts Technology This program is designed to provide students with knowledge, skills, and hands-on experiences in the study of electronic imaging, pre-press, offset press operations, and bindery.
Health Care Science Technology This program provides students an opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to make realistic health career choices. The program utilizes an industry-based curriculum that enhances academic foundations and hands-on experiences. Emphasis is placed on health, first aid, diseases, safety, communication skills, ethical legal responsibilities and technology utilized in health care.
Marketing Education This program is designed to provide students with competencies needed in sales, fashion marketing, and entrepreneurship careers.
Professional Foods This program prepares students for employment in food industry careers, including food production and services, food science, dietetics, nutrition and hospitality.
